Look
there are even more flowers to pick from
https://revistapesquisa.fapesp.br/a-diversidade-de-plantas-da-caatinga/
thousands even
and another cool stuff is a technique
for planting during the dry season
https://ciclovivo.com.br/planeta/meio-ambiente/tecnica-aumenta-a-sobrevivencia-de-plantas-da-caatinga-de-30-para-70/
I was doing some (bad) math
a hive can forage for flowers in an area of roughly 8000 acres
that is roughly 3,240 hectares
the price of a hectare is around U$1,000 in brazil's caatinga
so buying the whole forest where your bees will forage would cost at least U$ 4 million dollars
a reforestation rocket costs about 200 dollars, you need 8 per hectare, so let's say 3000 dollars including seeds
for 3300 hectares, you will spend and additional U$ 10 million dollars on the property to seed bomb it
other methods of planting could cost up to ten times more, so gotta do it the cheap way
then you wait at least three years until the trees start flowering, you put a few hives there to help with it
once the forest is fully grown, you can put 12 hives per acre, for a total of 36 thousand hives
one hive produces on average 50 lb of honey, so it is 1,8 million pounds of honey per year
Salaries of beekepers would be about U$ 1 million dollars per year, for you would need around 100 of them
A pound of honey sells for U$5 dollars wholesale, so you would rake in U$ 7 million dollars profit per year before taxes
The property pays for itself after 5 years and from then on produces U$3-5 million dollars of profit per year.
There is enough room for 15 thousand such properties, so the caatinga in 10 years could be generating at least 22 million pounds of honey, selling for at least 45 billion dollars per year worth of Honey, exporting to the whole world.
Not too shabby for some piece of desert.
(A more likely scenario is that it will take 40-60+ years to cover the area, since the starting investment for doing it in a hurry is kinda big, while doing it leisurely after seeding the region with a few properties is much more affordable.)
